I was asked to teach hand stitched shibori techniques to my local sewing guild.  I decided that my sample piece would be a piece I designed to accompany one of the chairs in my living room that had a circular pattern.  This is the result.

Shibori can refer to any type of resist work on fabric to create a pattern/mark that is left behind after dying.  This can include folding, clamping, scrunching, tying, wrapping, and in this case stitching.   This pillow involved many hours of hand stitching to gather the fabric.
